SAVANNAH

“Savvy”
Despite the pouring rain and cold temps, a team from Rosemary Farm ventured to a BLM Mustang Adoption Event being held nearby. It was the last day of the event and nearly half the horses were still available, which prompted us to immediate action. And after a long day, three young mustangs came HOME, to Rosemary Farm Sanctuary.
The first is a 2 yo sorrel filly. Born in a holding pen, her mother would have been rounded up in foal from the Twin Peaks HMA. She has never known freedom.... or grass... or running water, or any real individual attention. Such a contrast to the 4 yo horses here at the Sanctuary, who are gentled, big and healthy, able to have their hooves trimmed and get vaccines, who know their names. As the first step in her journey here, she has been named Savannah. Whether used as a first name or a place name, the savannah is an "open plain" or "treeless grassland." It has Native American and Spanish roots, stemming from the Taino word "zabana". This name evokes a sense of freedom, vastness, and natural beauty.
We will begin by getting to know her, gentling her, and eventually hope she may be adopted by an approved home.
Our hearts and our Sanctuary are full, knowing we changed the lives of Savannah, Koa and Capala, forever. If you want to be part of her journey, consider Sponsoring Savannah today!
