KOA
“Nickname”
Despite the pouring rain and cold temps, a team from Rosemary Farm ventured to a BLM Mustang Adoption Event being held nearby. It was the last day of the event and nearly half the horses were still available, which prompted us to immediate action. And after a long day, three young mustangs came HOME, to Rosemary Farm Sanctuary.
Born in a holding pen, they have never known freedom.... or grass... or running water, or any real individual attention. Such a contrast to the 4 yo horses here at the Sanctuary, who are gentled, big and healthy, able to have their hooves trimmed and get vaccines, who know their names. This 4 yo chestnut gelding with the wide blaze is now Koa. Of Hawaiian origin, his name carries meanings of "warrior," "brave," or "valiant one". It also refers to a type of ironwood tree native to Hawaii, adding a natural and earthy touch. In Hawaiian culture, Koa represents the strength and courage of warriors who protected their land and people.
We will begin by getting to know him, gentling him, and eventually hope he may be adopted by an approved home.
Our hearts and our Sanctuary are full, knowing we changed the lives of Savannah, Koa and Capala, forever. If you want to be part of their ongoing journey, click the button to Sponsor Koa today!
