The Guest House at Rosemary Farm

Three hours and a world away from New York City. Come stay with us and experience the magic.

If you have been reading about our work at The Sanctuary and want to learn more, see horses just outside our door, hear soft nickers at night, come stay and share in our adventure! We are delighted to offer bookings in our Guest House, located on the grounds beside Ella’s Place and Stardust Meadows, with views of the horses and hills out every window.

The Guest House is a three bedroom, one bath, ranch style house, with an enclosed front porch overlooking our fields, a full kitchen, dining area, and open central living area. Windows in every direction are perfect for breathing in the fresh air and experiencing what it’s like to be at The Sanctuary, surrounded by horses. This is a casual and connection-free country escape. We have a turntable and some vinyl, but no TV, no phone line, and no wifi. Cell service is spotty and might require a drive back down the hill.

Come to learn more about our mission, to meet the horses you’ve met online, to volunteer as part of the team and see the real life impact of your support. We offer several activities that allow you to connect more deeply with our work and experience the magic of the horses here at our mountain home. Stays of two nights or longer include:

  • Tour — a walking tour of the Sanctuary where you’ll learn more about the history and operation that rescues and protects horses in need.

  • Horse interaction — a guided grooming session where you’ll engage with one of the Rosemary Farm rescues and experience 1:1 connection.

  • Volunteering — join in for morning chores including mucking stalls, filling NibbleNets and water buckets.

All activities are pre-scheduled after you make your reservation and are subject to availability and weather.

When you’re not involved in an activity, relax and breathe. Climb the hill to watch the sun rise over the mountain, slowly burning off the morning mist. Make your morning coffee and sit on the porch to watch as the farm wakes up. Follow our Walking Discovery Map to one of the observation spots to watch our horses being horses from alongside a field. Head down the hill on bikes (or on foot) to the Catskill Rail Trail. Take a drive to Roxbury or Bovina or visit the nearby Hobart Book Village and stroll the stacks of special finds…or head over to Margaretville and visit the Catskill Artisans Guild, or the farmer’s market for fresh ingredients for a home cooked dinner. Listen to the whinnies as horses head back out after an afternoon siesta, to begin romping in the twilight glow. End your night watching fireflies and looking at a million stars across the sky.
