“Nickname”
The concerning shift in the BLM policies and handling of mustangs, and the vast increase in captured wild horses being sold for pennies, without protection, has resulted in a FLOOD of these wild ones being immediately flipped for profit into kill pens and auctions. Born wild, unhandled, without any tools to understand or navigate the disaster that has befallen their lives, they are at the mercy of the few kind souls trying to protect them. The numbers are taking our breath away, to be honest.
While we can't welcome them all, working arm in arm with Skydog Sanctuary, we can rescue a few. And when they stepped up for four mustangs, some in rough shape, and asked Rosemary Farm to welcome two, we were delighted to say YES!
Griffin is the younger of the pair, a 4 year old grey gelding. Born in holding pens April 1, 2022, his dam was captured wild from the "Antelope Valley NV" herd. He lingered in the holding pens for four years, his entire life, before he was sold off on 2/6/2026, and immediately flipped for profit. Griffin is the same age as the three young mustangs we welcomed last year, and we are sure he will become just as tame and loving.
As with all new arrivals, we will take it slow and help him recover and find himself. If his story inspires you, consider feeding Griffin and Naomi for a day, or maybe choose to be his Sponsor on his journey!
