NAOMI
“The Wallflower”
This shy mustang mare seems to have had a difficult time before her rescue, and is going to take longer to build trust. Fortunately she has discovered that she loves treats and she likes gentle touch, both are traits that will help her in her new life at the Sanctuary.
Naomi is also gaining weight FAST, in a manner that has the crew watchful, because there may be a baby Naomi on the way! This would be joyful, of course, but means that the Sanctuary needs to be prepared and have the mare prepared, for success. More to come!
The concerning shift in the BLM policies and handling of mustangs, and the vast increase in captured wild horses being sold for pennies, without protection, has resulted in a FLOOD of these wild ones being immediately flipped for profit into kill pens and auctions. Born wild, unhandled, without any tools to understand or navigate the disaster that has befallen their lives, they are at the mercy of the few kind souls trying to protect them. The numbers are taking our breath away, to be honest.
While we can't welcome them all, working arm in arm with Skydog Sanctuary, we can rescue a few. And when they stepped up for four mustangs, some in rough shape, and asked Rosemary Farm to welcome two, Naomi and Griffin, we were delighted to say YES!
As with all new arrivals, we will take it slow and help her recover and find herself. If her story inspires you, consider sponsoring Naomi on her journey with a monthly donation!
