NEMO

Welcomed to the Sanctuary — May 2016
Across the Rainbow Bridge — July 2020

“The Badass”

Born in May 2016, Nemo had a rough start. As a young donkey, he lived in a crowded home with many donkeys, and his leg was painfully broken. Sadly, he did not get care for a long time, but fortune smiled on Nemo, and he was rescued by a kind woman, who got him to a hospital and to Rosemary Farm Sanctuary, and his recovery began.

Nemo’s leg had to be amputated, and he was fitted for a prosthetic; he is one of just a few donkeys to have this! Nemo grew bigger and happier, playing with his friends Rudy and Vincent, and enjoying visitors to The Sanctuary. He was even featured in a video short created by National Geographic (link). Many friends all over the world rejoiced as Nemo triumphed and enjoyed his life, and many came to visit him. Nemo loved hugs, he loved cabbage, he loved his human and equine family, and was a big presence.

Sadly, complications took Nemo early, and he crossed the Rainbow Bridge in the summer of 2020. He was unforgettable.
