CINDERELLA

“Cinder”
A large herd dispersal auction at the end of September 2022 had many area rescues scrambling, coordinating in advance to be sure all of the 44 thoroughbreds were safe. It was a wonderful plan, but like many plans, was imperfect, and emotions (as well as dollars) ran high that night.
When the dust settled, a dark bay filly with a cloudy eye needed somewhere safe to land, and Rosemary Farm Sanctuary was called. A day later, she arrived to the safe quarantine barn to spend a month in recovery with a kind quarter horse, Bailey.
This beautiful young mare was barely handled, and was quite afraid at first; she had no experience or training in getting on or off a trailer, or in being walked on a lead, or in anything really. She does have, however, wonderful breeding and intelligence, and within a few days, discovered she was safe. Her eye received immediate medical care, a full vet evaluation, basic vaccines, and a good grooming. If a horse could purr, she would have.
Named Cinder, or Cinderella, in tribute to her glossy black coat and her radical change in life status, this mare has fully healed, and will have her whole future to look forward to again. What a wonderful change in fortune!
Sometimes there is a happily ever after..
