DOTTIE
“Nickname”
The tiny donkey welcomed to the Sanctuary just after the new year, Dottie, is coming out of her shell. The move was tough for her emotionally, following the hospitalization (and subsequent passing) of her longtime person, and her leaving her only home after 14 years. Dottie hadn’t seen another equine since she was a baby, and shook with the change.
She was welcomed as softly as possible, and given a space that resembled her old home, given extra blankets (thank you Bray Hollow Farm!) and nearby new friends. After getting vaccines and a health check, she has been allowed rest and a chance to observe her new world, and now we see the positive results! Dottie brays like a bagpipe being strangled, with joy (yes we are trying to capture footage!) and a personality is emerging.
She has currently formed an unlikely friendship with Ephy, our senior Percheron 5x her size! We are so very happy for her!
